Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1

What is a notary public and what do they do?

Accepted Answer

A notary public is a state-commissioned official authorized to witness signatures, administer oaths, and certify documents. Their primary role is to deter fraud by verifying the identity of signers and confirming that documents are signed willingly and knowingly. Accurate Signing and Notary LLC provides mobile notary services throughout the greater area, coming directly to your home, office, hospital, or any location convenient for you.

Question 2

What types of documents can you notarize?

Accepted Answer

We notarize a wide range of documents including powers of attorney, real estate documents, loan packages, affidavits, wills and trusts, medical directives, title transfers, business agreements, and more. If you're unsure whether your document qualifies, contact us before booking and we'll be happy to advise.

Question 3

What ID do I need to bring?

Accepted Answer

You'll need a current, government-issued photo ID. Acceptable forms include a U.S. driver's license or state-issued ID, U.S. passport or passport card, military ID, or permanent resident card (green card). The name on your ID must match the name on the document being notarized. Expired IDs cannot be accepted.

Question 4

Do I need to sign the document before the appointment?

Accepted Answer

No — please do not sign your document before the appointment. The notary must witness your signature in person (or over video for RON sessions). If a document is already signed, it generally cannot be notarized. Bring your unsigned document and valid ID, and we'll take care of the rest.

Question 5

Can you come to a hospital, care facility, or jail?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We regularly travel to hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers, and correctional facilities. We understand that some signers cannot travel, and we are committed to making notarization accessible wherever you are. Please mention the location type when booking so we can plan accordingly.

Question 6

What is Remote Online Notarization (RON)?

Accepted Answer

Remote Online Notarization (RON) is a fully digital notarization process where you and the notary meet over a secure, live video call — no in-person appointment required. We use BlueNotary (bluenotary.us), a leading RON platform trusted by millions. The notary verifies your identity, witnesses your signature on screen, and applies a tamper-evident digital seal to your documents. RON is legally authorized and the resulting notarized documents are accepted throughout the United States.

Question 7

What do I need for a remote online notarization session?

Accepted Answer

You'll need five things: (1) A government-issued photo ID — driver's license, passport, or state ID. (2) A device with a working camera and microphone — laptop, tablet, or smartphone. (3) A stable internet connection. (4) Your document(s) ready to upload as a PDF. (5) A valid email address to receive your session link and completed documents. No software downloads are needed — BlueNotary is fully web-based and runs entirely in your browser.

Question 8

Is remote online notarization legally valid?

Accepted Answer

Yes. RON is legally authorized and the notarized documents carry full legal weight, accepted by courts, title companies, financial institutions, and government agencies. BlueNotary is SOC2 Type 2 compliant, HIPAA compliant, and MISMO certified — meeting the highest standards for security and legal validity. It is always a good idea to confirm with the receiving party that they accept RON documents before your session.

Question 9

What platform do you use for remote online notarization?

Accepted Answer

We use BlueNotary (bluenotary.us), one of the most trusted and widely used RON platforms in the industry. BlueNotary is SOC2 Type 2 compliant, HIPAA compliant, and MISMO certified. It uses biometric authentication and advanced fraud prevention to verify your identity before every session. Everything runs in your browser — no downloads or plugins required. After your session, your completed notarized document is delivered to your email, typically within minutes.

Question 10

How is my identity verified and is the platform secure?

Accepted Answer

Identity verification happens in two layers through BlueNotary: First, biometric verification — you'll receive a secure link to upload a photo of your government-issued ID and take a live selfie. BlueNotary's system compares your likeness to the ID using biometric scanning. Second, in-session verification — you'll present your ID on the live video call and the notary will examine it directly. BlueNotary is SOC2 Type 2 compliant, HIPAA compliant, and uses AES-256 encryption for all data in transit and at rest. Your personal information is never shared with third parties without your consent.

Question 11

Can I use RON if I'm outside the United States?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. One of the most powerful features of RON is that your physical location doesn't matter. We regularly serve clients in other states and abroad. As long as you have a valid ID and a stable internet connection, we can complete your notarization. International clients often need notarized documents for U.S. real estate transactions, powers of attorney, or documents that will be apostilled for use in their home country.

Question 12

Will my session be recorded?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All RON sessions are recorded for compliance, audit, and fraud prevention purposes as required by law. BlueNotary encrypts and stores the recording securely. It serves as proof of the notarization and is retained for the duration required by law. You will receive a copy of your completed notarized document by email immediately after the session.

Question 13

What is a loan signing agent?

Accepted Answer

A loan signing agent is a notary public who specializes in mortgage and real estate loan documents. They guide borrowers through the signing of closing packages — ensuring every signature, initial, and date is in the correct place — and then return the completed package to the title company or lender. Accurate Signing and Notary LLC is a certified loan signing agent with experience handling purchase, refinance, and home equity transactions.

Question 14

How long does a loan signing appointment take?

Accepted Answer

Most loan signing appointments take between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours depending on the size of the package and the number of signers. Refinance packages are typically shorter than purchase closings. We'll give you a time estimate when you book based on your specific transaction.

Question 15

Can you work with my title company or lender directly?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work regularly with title companies, real estate attorneys, and mortgage lenders. We are experienced in coordinating directly with closing teams to ensure documents are handled correctly and returned promptly. Contact us to discuss your transaction and we'll coordinate with all parties involved.

Question 16

What is an apostille and do I need one?

Accepted Answer

An apostille is an internationally recognized certification that verifies the authenticity of a U.S. notary's signature for use in foreign countries. It is required when sending a notarized U.S. document to a country that is a member of the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention. You likely need an apostille if you're submitting documents to a foreign government, enrolling in a foreign school, handling an estate or legal matter abroad, or applying for citizenship or residency in another country.

Question 17

Which countries accept a U.S. apostille?

Accepted Answer

Over 120 countries are members of the Hague Apostille Convention and accept U.S. apostilles, including most of Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, Australia, and parts of Africa and Asia. Countries that are not Hague Convention members may require a more involved process called consular legalization. We recommend confirming your destination country's requirements with the receiving institution before proceeding.

Question 18

Can you help with the apostille process after notarization?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can assist with the apostille process following notarization. After your document is notarized, we can guide you through submitting it to the appropriate state authority for apostille certification. Contact us when booking if you know you'll need an apostille so we can plan the process from the start.

Question 21

How far in advance should I book?
